Tuesday Throwdown #2- Sherrod STudio

Our challenge this week was to do an emboss resist. I love these little gingermen from Sherrod Studio! This versatile set is called Fresh Baked. I took a sketch from CPS this week and used that as my starting point. Kris gave me some old Flair christmas paper and I used this great vintage "music" and "holiday words" dp as my background papers. CTMH cranberry cardstock. The raffia ribbon is a prize from a challenge I won and the flowers are Petaloos christmas poinsetta group.

Now onto the gingerbread men. First I stamped the outline of him onto chocolate cardstock and embossed him with white EP. Now, before I cut them out, I used dark brown distressing ink and sponged each one to make them look like overcooked cookies! LOL! Yes, that is probably how they would turn out in my home!! It makes the white EP really stand out! Then I used mini red rhinestones for the eyes, stamped in a sentiment off of the set, attached with a misc button.

Only 2 more months to shop for presents for the holidays! I started my shopping over the weekend and got some great gifts (the best ones are the ones that appear without you having to really look for something!) I even discovered a new warehouse bookstore where I got a great cookbook by William-Sonoma for $10 (yes it is a $30 retail book!) and yes they are all new. Kids got some great stocking stuffers (can't beat $1.00 books!) Can you tell that I am excited by my finds????

Recovering....

...from this weekend and World Cardmaking Day! What a fantastic response we had over at Unscripted Sketches! Many lucky winners rec'd blog candy (my deadline is tonight-drawing in the morning! see halloween candy photo,click on it, leave a comment)

I am trying to clean up my room, lots of little things to move out, but it is one of those projects that when I have 5 minutes here and there I can take care of something! While waiting for the afternoon bus to bring home Daughter#1, I made these quick cards.

The baby card uses a digi image (I think from Soft Pencil). The DP are Bobunny, sketch is from Card Positioning Systems #136, and the star paper is like a homemade paper with silver embossed stars. The Hello card uses Debbie Mumm baby girl, petaloo flowers, bling and misc satin ribbon. The sketch is from 365 CArds #218 Super Sketchy Sunday.

Whew- glad to have these done and one less paper pile on my table! Have a great day!

Are you ready for World Card Making Day?

I have been trying to clean off my scrap table to reenergize myself. The table is chock full of "stuff": ceramic toadstools for my garden, a large tin of buttons to sort through, cards to finish, a basket for an auction to finish, new embellishments waiting to be used.... and the list goes on! So, I sat down at my table over the last few days and tried to use up some older papers that I purchased at the beginning of the summer, some digis that I won or printed off and ended up with these 2 cards.

The first one uses an image from The Fresh Batch site, which I won a few weeks ago. The papers are from Basic Grey and as much as I liked the pack on line, getting it in my hands, well I definitely had buyers remorse. Not happy with the colors at all. So, trying to make cards (or anything with it) is really trying my patience! The sketch helped, it is from Card patterns this week.

The second card is a sketch from CPS last week (yes a bit behind!LOL!). Quite a simple layout, but effective in the message. Basic Grey papers (the pad of papers doesn't seem to be dwindling down....:(

So, this morning I am going to try to make some more cards for tomorrow. I will have some new stuff from Sherrod Studio (check out PCP at 6pm for an online chatter with Kim Sherrod and see what the other team members have created!) Card Positioning Systems- sketch challenge #129. Broke out the Fun in the Sun papers DCWV, CTMH stamp that I haven't used in forever, think it is called Dainty. Solid image in yellow then the beauty of clear stamps- the outline of the flowers in orange. Love my bright green satin ribbon and Chloes Closed pins.

365 Cards- Super Sketchy Sunday challenge #169. This actually came out better than I thought it would. Used Basic Grey Wisteria papers, Fiskars border punch, prima flower (added some sparkle to it), tag, sentiment CTMH business builder set, and misc chocolate satin ribbon.

Finally- sketch from 2Sketches4You #33. More Basic Grey papers, organdy ribbon, SU stamped sentiment, Heidi Grace hat pins.

CPS #128 Challenge

I have been following the CPS site for a bit and finally took the time to play along. I used some Chloe's Closet papers, matching flower cardstock, misc ribbon, BoBunny rubon, clear stickers. I have really been stretching my comfort zone lately with my styles, colors, and patterns. Interesting outcomes.....

Still Catching Up!

One of my goals this summer was to play along more frequently with the site 365 Cards. I figure, I will have a great stash of kids
b'day cards, christmas cards, and other thinking of you cards that I always seem to need.

Card #1, is for a kid. The sketch is #113, Sunday 6/21 on 365. The vision in my head on this card is not the final product. Unfortunately, I don't have a cricut cartridge with an arrow, handcutting wasn't an option since I wanted to do "quick", so this is how it ended. I spend much too much time on the lion's head- cutting out the mane and popdotting the head for dimension.....but for all of the kids parties that we seem to go to, this is perfect!

Card #2, is for the sketch on CPS (card positioning systems) #121. I love these new papers Kris gave to me on a recent visit. They are just beautiful IRL! The embossing and sparkle just make the card all wintery....BRRRR! The Peace on Earth sentiment is a Stampin' Up! image I picked up on Ebay. Can't wait to try more of this set!
