Teen Fashionista Cards

Went away for the night with a girlfriend and was on a creative roll! One of my lovely daughters asked me to make her teacher some cards for a going away present. The teacher is a student teacher and her last day is December 4th. So with papers, stamps, and other fun stuff that came along for the ride, I was able to make 6 of these cute cards! Kris gave me some older Anna Griffin dimensional stickers- these very girly ones, and I was able to use all but 2 of them on these cards. The papers I coordinated with them are from MM, the Sabrina line. And don'tcha love the stamps?! They are from CTMH "be yourself" and they worked perfectly! DD was very happy with the cards and I have 3 extras I am giving to my hairdresser today for a small token of appreciation. And a big shout out goes to Cute Card Thursday for the Teen Terror challenge! These would be perfect for any teen!

It's starting to look a bit like Christmas....NOT!

I am on a mission. Not only do I want to create cards for challenges, not only do I have to build up "inventory" for some craft shows that I have entered with my sister, but I am determined to dwindle down my stash. It is so out of hand that I get nervous when I walk into my dining room. Too many things to look at, at once. Too many wonderful supplies calling my name, that I don't know where to begin. So I made a decision to clean. To purge. To move it out of here, in one form or fashion (have you ever thought about that phrase and what it really means??)

So, these cards were made with 2 challenges in mind. First, Cute Card Thursday. Challenge #77, Strawberry Mint Julep is the title. To make a project using the colors pink and green. The second challenge and my second posting entry is for Caardvarks, to use one of 3 sketches provided, I used all 3 sketches to make this cute gift set.

The Christmas papers are a retired set from Anna Griffin. I love the lime greens, holiday reds and bright pinks in this palette. The Christmas tree stamps are CTMH, Evergreen- using sweet leaf and black inks, and using rhinestones also from CTMH. The green glitter is a bargain from Martha Stewart that I picked up at Walmart. Miscellaneous pieces of ribbon to complete the look.

The sparkle and shine, the true colors really get lost on a computer screen. Front window shots help, but this coastal storm we have been in for the past 2 days doesn't help my lighting.

3 to See!

This card was created for The Pink Elephant and Cute Card Thursday. Amazingly enough, both sites asked for Summer Themed Cards. Well, nothing beats the Seashore for summer images! LOL! This is Maize, she is a prize that I won from Twisted Thursday, during CHA week. She is sassy, cute, independent and I just love her. The paper is from DCWV, Fun in the Sun, even the colors I used are summery: breeze blue from CTMH, pink on the bucket, light greens and yellows. Even the paper is glittery, reminding me of the way the hot summer sun reflects on the granules of sand- temporarily blinding you!

Lovely Gracie's Birthday Card completed 3 challenges. Sherrod Studio , Card Positioning Systems #130 sketch design and Inky Impressions Paper Piecing challenge. Gracie's shirt and balloon were pieced using Basic Greys paper, same pattern line as the balloon DP. Birthday is a fabric sticker, I think from Anna Griffin????? The balloon was put on 3d foam to give the impression of floating.

And I actually completed a layout for a challenge on Unscripted Sketches. When I first started following US, this was the site that I could use for all of my backlog of photos. Scrapping seems to take so much time anymore and cards have become addicting! And less time consuming.... So, today I am by myself and am trying to do a few layouts before the day is done. I love this picture of my girls. They were walking down to the lake, way ahead of their father and I and it makes me think of the 3 musketeers. My girls can be the best of friends and the worst of enemies. This day, they were united in their explorations of the world around them and I love it! I stamped on Burlap, gives that fall feeling, and made my own leaves- properly placing them so they look like they are free falling off of the trees. Hemp was the final touch that pulled this together.

I found a new site this week called Inky Impressions. This weeks challenge was to use an image from II (which they gave us this one to download) and to create a card with a tag! Fun, fun! I just got a set of new markers, like Copics, without the price tag! So, my first card using these new fun tools to create a vintage, distressed birthday card. I added some MM mini tag alphas for the sentiment "fairy wishes", added some gold glitter to the wings, Heidi Grace tool to distress and prima flowers finish off this card. Not my usual style, but hey, we all need to move outside of our box of comfort from time to time!

This card, made for the Pink Elephant Challenge (which I am new to) gives me that feeling of freedom that the weekend provides. Their challenge was to make a project using Brown, Turquoise, and a neutral. Now, I don't consider off white c/s a neutral, green is just an added touch of color. The stamp is Verve, and even though I have had it for a bit, I never saw the cloud stamp until yesterday! It made a perfect embellishment for me! Cut it out and popdotted to really give the feeling of floating carefree in the air! Love it! Paper is Bobunny.

Now, here, I am completely out of my comfort zone..... This card was made for 365Cards (Color Scheme Challenge day #164). Which was to use red, yellow, orange, purple, and blue. Hard to tell, but the purple was added by my tiny rhinestones! LOL! I need some B'day cards for the girls to give to friends and wanted something fun and summery. Those colors are really fun...!!! The sketch is 2 Sketches 4 You which helped me pull these colors together. The paper is BoBunny. I fussy cut out the waves in the ocean from a 12x12 sheet of paper. The round "ball" helps to give the feeling of movement (the waves crashing and receding along the yellow shore line). Fussy cut out fish to add to the general beach feel. This card even makes the Cute Card Thursday Challenge- Beach themed! The mini rhinestones give the final touch of how the sand and water sparkle in the bright sunshine. It is very eclectic and I am happy with the end product. My girls love it and we already have dibs on the friend it goes to!

Happy Friday everyone- maybe today I can find a bit more time to play???? One can only be hopeful as I look forward to another wonderful relaxing weekend.

strawberry fields forever....

Designing this card made me think of the Beatles song "strawberry fields forever" and hooked up my ipod for some inspirational music. Currently listening to Bon Jovi (so love him!!!) It's My Life ...."make your own way, its my life, its now or never, i ain't gonna live forever....like frankie said i did it my way...." There I go, off on a tangent!

The sketch for this card is from Papertake Weekly and the design motif is for Cute Card Thursday #71- Let's Get Fruity (to use fruit on your card). Love the sketch and it worked very easily to put everything on it that I wanted. The fruit part- cherries are the current fad. Even though the K&Co Sweet Berry had cherries on it, even though I have cherry rubons, I wanted to stand out by doing something different and went with STRAWBERRIES. See the little strawberries on this patterned paper? It's my fave fruit!!! I remembered that I have had this strawberry button for AGES and it worked perfectly with this card theme! The ribbon came from a thrift store, flower from Kris and the sentiment is SU!

Todays challenge at 365 Cards was to create a card with a flap and a surprise underneath. I went with the swing card. Shut, it is an elegant birthday card, pulled open, the middle flap swings and the sentiment is revealed. Paper, stamp, ribbon from CTMH. Thanks for looking today!

Sweet Baby.... Cute Card Thursday Challenge

In the frame for simplicity so I can get lots of things accomplished this week. Cute Card Thursday Challenge #66, Wheely Good Time- is to use wheels on the card.

Looking thru the gazillion stamps in my stash, nope, nada, nothing except the baby carriage. So my poor attempt at a 'wheel' card is this. Some of the cards on this site are AMAZING- where do they get those fab stamps?????

Use some old papers Kris gifted to me, scallops to edge the last oval and a stamp from Studio G Clear stamps. MS satin ribbon to finish off the look. Simple, clean and ready to give.

Cute Card Thursday #56

I love these challenges and I love the fact that I can interpret the challenge into what works for me! CCT and Floral Fantasy is Challenge #56 and my card uses stamps for the flowers. I stamped the flowers in Creme Brulee and Sorbet, highlighting in Tulip. Thanks for looking!

Cute Card Thursday Challenge

I found time to play today...Challenge #55 is titled "Marshmallows and Chocolate"- Pink and Brown is the colour challenge of the week. The first card uses all CTMH papers. I was trying to use up some scraps to make room in my stash pile for new papers and viola! this card used up the last of this paper pack! The second card I made with my sweetie in mind. Again, used all CTMH papers and stamps, hemp for the "hangers", flourish stamp (Key to My Heart) and just cut the hearts out with scallop scissors. Pop dotted the hearts to give dimension!

Need to make this short- with the holidays, traveling to Baltimore to visit family, and trying to clean- time is short, but didn't want too much time in between posts! LOL- I need a vacation after this spring break vacation!! Happy Easter everyone......

If Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade....!

I started off using the scraps from my other cards made earlier this week, but realized that I had no mojo left in me for them. As I was cleaning up my paper, I stumbled across this great floral patterned paper that completely inspired me. Everytime I look at it, it reminds me of lemonade- hence the name for todays post. So, now off to the store to buy some lemonade- I have to stop this association of food with my cards! I will never get anything done and I will eat us out of house and home! Now, here is what happened this week from making cupcake cards....

I have been crazy this week and part of the craziness was trying my hand at some of these great blog challenges that I have discovered. The down side of making these cards, well, I have become obsessed with wanting cake- more specifically CUPCAKES! Yummmy, yummy delicatable crumbly moist cupcakes, with lots of vanilla icing....mmmmmm. Back to the story..... So, with making these cute cupcake cards, I made some real ones. Now the other side of the story is that one of my girls volunteered me to make some treat for her class today, as we are having a belated baby shower for her teacher. Since I couldn't find any "pink" baby toppers for the cupcakes at Wally's, I improvised and bought Sour Bunnies! Aren't they the cutest thing? Kids just love the sours! So, I my mind, "killed 2 birds with one stone." Now, will they all make it to school?????? Time will tell. If you see me coming and I have crumbs in my hair- well, you will know the rest of the story. ( I am just chock full of these quotes today!)

Happy Birthday to You!- Cute Card Thursday Challenge

In honor of my oldest's birthday yesterday, I created a few birthday cards one for her and a few for the fundraiser I am participating in tomorrow. This card is also for Cute Card #53 Challenge:

Challenge 53 - "Family Affair"A nice easy one for this week!! We want you to make a card for a member of your family. As simple as that. Could be mum, dad, husband, son, sister - anyone!!


I cannot believe another year has come and gone for "M". She is turning into a beautiful young lady. Her big surprise was 2 pairs of pierced earrings. Now, to most, this would be NO BIG, but for her, it signified that Daddy was finally going to let her get her ears pierced! 5 years of asking and she finally has grown into the responsible person to be able to care for her own ears. It was the highlight of the evening! Today, despite the rain, we are going into the City of Brotherly Love for a "REAL" cheesesteak sub (you are not allowed to call it a hoagie, that is for ham/cheese and then no mayo is allowed all oil/vinegar- trying to figure out Philadelphia-ese can be frustrating!) This will be a photo op for the scrapbook. Now to choose between Pats, Genos or Tony Lucs....hmmm....


In keeping with the birthday theme, this is a simple card. But what is great about it for me, I am finally using up some things around here that I am just plain tuckered out of seeing. First the sunkiss yellow cardstock from CTMH. I rarely use it, don't know why, but I prefer more jewel tones. The ribbon is one I purchased from Michael's on clearance and have never found the right project to use it on until now. Really goes with the "heart" cut from the Cricut. The heart is popped up with foam and really makes an impact on presentation. I think any young lady would appreciate this card. This is what the USE IT! challenges have done to me...my paradigm has changed and now I am looking at my stash through new eyes! Check out the site if you have TOO MUCH stuff- if there ever is such a thing!LOL!
