Teen Fashionista Cards

Went away for the night with a girlfriend and was on a creative roll! One of my lovely daughters asked me to make her teacher some cards for a going away present. The teacher is a student teacher and her last day is December 4th. So with papers, stamps, and other fun stuff that came along for the ride, I was able to make 6 of these cute cards! Kris gave me some older Anna Griffin dimensional stickers- these very girly ones, and I was able to use all but 2 of them on these cards. The papers I coordinated with them are from MM, the Sabrina line. And don'tcha love the stamps?! They are from CTMH "be yourself" and they worked perfectly! DD was very happy with the cards and I have 3 extras I am giving to my hairdresser today for a small token of appreciation. And a big shout out goes to Cute Card Thursday for the Teen Terror challenge! These would be perfect for any teen!

Out of my comfort zone

Kris passed on some papers my way a few months ago from Anna Griffin. I loved the look of the papers, but not sure if it is my style and definitely creating a card out of the papers really pushed my envelope! Card patterns was the sketch for this top card (#26). I fussy cut the flower out of paper and layered it 3 times for dimension (which is always hard to tell in a photo!). Misc ribbon, pins and faith heart charm are from the jewelry dept at Michael's. DH liked the card (surprise, surprise, surprise as he is much more classic in style than even me!!!!!LOL!) Hope that you do too-
More Anna Griffin paper and matching dimensional flower and butterfly. This card was created for 365 Cards, Super Sketchy Sunday.
And lastly (thank goodness i used up the last of these papers!LOL!!) this card was created for the sketch over at Unscripted Sketches #17. I love this site, very low key and I have done most of their challenges. Butterfly was punched from MS, pearls the wedding dept, and i love this dew drops in pale pink (have to remember where i got these and order more in other colors).

Have a great start to the week, off to Hersheypark for a vacation and then my nieces are up for a weekend! Busy week!!

Recycle

Cuttlebug Challenge this week (for a chance to win the awesome new embossing folders debuting at CHA!) is to alter something from the recycle bin. Now, I am going to take liberties with the recycle part. I toss old plastic containers- eeewwww to clean them. I toss old cardboard boxes b/c in Miami those boxes ended up with ants in them or bowevils so it is habit that I got into. What I do recycle, I do reuse. For example: I save all of the gift bags that we receive presents in. They are darned expensive, so I reuse them like crazy. Like this red bag. I refold them and store under my bed in the "rubbermaid container that holds all wrapping paper paraphenalia". Looks good doesn't it???? I even reuse tissue paper! Call me cheap, I think of myself as frugal!

Now for all of the papers....here is where I am taking my recycle liberties. The paper was my sisters (who is on a few DTs) and she was purging her "old" stash. So, wonderful sister that she is, instead of tossing, she gave them to me! I am using old papers in a new way- recycled paper! Yes, could be stretching it a bit......LOL! The papers are: around the block and flair. The cut out of poinsetta leaves are Anna Griffin (hard to tell, but there is 3D on them as the diecuts were meant to be layered. The red and green were embossed on the swiss dots and swirls folders for texture. The Jingle Bells lyrics are Flair paper (you can find lyrics and sheet music on line- just GOOGLE it! easy peasy to make even Birthday cards with the sheet music). The edges were distressed with a Heidi grace tool and inked with chocolate to give the vintage feel. The tag was made out of some old paper, Anna Griffin and tied on with hemp. I wanted to use some old christmas cards that I have stored, but took one look in the garage, shook my head and walked away. Took my losses and improvised. Glued onto some tan cardstock, scalloped the edges and inked in more chocolate.

If you stayed this long, I hope that you liked the final product and it gave you an idea or two on how to recycle old bags and where to get vintage items like postcard tags and sheet music.

Baby Baby don't get hooked on me.....

An old Mac Davis song. My mother used to play his one record over and over again. Sultry, maybe country, but when the word baby is said, my head immediately thinks of these lyrics......makes me miss my mom (she passed away 19 years ago and not a day goes by that I don't miss her or think of her).

I digress, as usual. The challenge this week at Caardvarks is to make a baby card or bridal shower card. I am beyond both of these stages in life, but know more people having babies than getting married (boy do I feel old!) I have spent the last 2 days cleaning my living room/dining room and have been on a purging expedition (besides dusting and vacuuming!) Cleaning out books off of the 20ft bookshelf, passing on some good reads- even going to have a book swap in September! My dining room is where most of my scrapping stuff is and even I am feeling overwhelmed with all of the stuff that I have. No buying new yet. So, Kris (check out her blogversary contest for a chance at blog candy!)passed on some great Anna Griffin baby paper and I can say that I have used most of this line for some cards. The rubons were AG as well, and the teddy bears (how cute are they?) were a dollar store find! These are just the cutest 6x6 cards!

Enjoy your day and as I clean and purge more, maybe I will sneak in a card or 2!

unscripted challenge #15

Thank goodness this was an easy peasy sketch this week at Unscripted Sketches #15 this week! Used Anna Griffin papers, rub ons (snug as a bug sentiment) and the poxy stickers. Love this card for a new baby!

Christmas in July continues....

365 Challenges day#127, was to just use this sketch. Since I had my Christmas papers out from Anna Griffin, I just went ahead and used up some scraps. I have to clean my dining room for guests tomorrow and I am really trying not to make too much of a mess and not succeeding. Oh well! The bling flourish is misc from walmart the sentiment is part of this Anna Griffin set. I really like the change of color hue of the red and green- sometimes has a bit of pink and the green is more kiwi. Love this set!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

Ironically that is the name of this stamp set and all morning that verse is replaying over and over again in my head...... S2G's challenge was to use this sketch and create a Christmas card, must use a Christmas stamp. Used Anna Griffin papers, AG dimensional flag, CTMH stamp set, holiday red ink, crystal blings (can you see the miniscule rhinestones on the tree?), and misc red organdy ribbon. I guess it really is Christmas in July: the stores are already marking down clearance summer items, back to school will be here before you know it, and December 25th will be 90 days away...... and to think that I am just now getting into the summer mode and we are FINALLY having summer weather. Hear my "sigh" ?

Off to the pool today and to play with my girls (they have been away for the past few days!)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Challenge Cards- 2 very different styled cards

Before we left for an all day softball tournament, I made a simple card for the Unscripted Sketch #12 site. The glam girl card, well I am not too happy with the ribbon. Had I thought more about it, I should have added flourish rhinestones, more for the bling factor. The ribbon is just not doing it..... Oh well, in the $1 bin it goes. Someone will be happy with it!
These baby cards were made this morning. One for the challenge (turned the sketch sideways) and the other, just to use up some stash. These cards turned out better than I had hoped, but the coloring on the 'puter makes them look hot pink instead of the muted blush pink that they really are......
Our power was out friday night b/c of a thunderstorm. We had a little light left and I decided it was time to put my papers in a better order system. I tried to go by color or manufacturer or even style. I have a pile of baby papers that are Anna Griffin. Kris passed them to me with some stick ons, rub ons, and some die cuts. In the best interest of using my stuff before buying new, my goal is to use up these wonderful older papers and crank out some cards this week. Would like to have a card sale in July/August to move stock- we'll see how the time goes. My dining room is filled with papers and such, my living room is now holding overflow.....hubby had an insight and just shook his head. Does that mean he thinkith I have too mucheth???? If you don't have your own craft room, where do you work and keep your supplies? Does your hubby protesteth?
